University of the West Indies Pelicans 6 In a game that was characterized by high energy defence and massive hits, the GC Foster Lions scored in the final minute of play to guarantee themselves a place in the finals and condemn UWI to their third defeat.Scrum-half Santino Lawrence scored the first points of the game after ten minutes when he scampered over near the goal post to put the visitors ahead. Lawrence then converted the extra two points. GC Foster replied 5 minutes from half time when Prop Shaneal Brown received a sweet short pass from scrum-half Smeathan Tapper and went in untouched to leave then Lions trailing by 2. It wasn’t until the 80th minute that either team crossed the line again, this time Lion’s second row Uriah Forbes went over in the left corner as the UWI defence failed slide across the field. The game ended after the failed conversion attempt, and with it, UWI’s slim chance of making the finals grew even dimmer.
